Trazor Gel was inspired by the monopolistic practices of razor blade manufacturers who charged exorbitant prices for their blades, limiting consumers' options. The goal of Trazor Gel is to give users the freedom to choose their own blades, making it the Swiss Army Knife of the shaving world. Its all-in-one functionality, durability, and compactness set it apart from traditional razors.
One of the key features of Trazor Gel is its world-first multi-blade adapter, which allows users to accept more than 25 of the most popular men and women razor blades. This gives users the flexibility to experiment with different blades and find the one that suits their needs best. Additionally, Trazor Gel has an integrated dual-purpose shaving and aftershave gel, making it a complete shaving system.
Trazor Gel's ergonomic design ensures a smooth shave with less hand fatigue and a firm grip. The handle is designed to provide optimal control and precision, resulting in a comfortable and efficient shaving experience. The sleek and compact travel case makes it convenient for users to carry Trazor Gel wherever they go.
The realization of Trazor Gel involved cutting-edge prototyping techniques to develop a simple-to-use multi-blade adapter. The designers also focused on creating a soft and hard feel on the Trazor handle, ensuring both comfort and structural integrity. The design process prioritized the multi-functional aspects, durability, and best-in-class feel of the product.
The technical specifications of Trazor Gel include product dimensions of 39.34 mm x 41.55 mm x 194.21 mm and carry case dimensions of 57.5 mm x 72 mm x 214 mm. The carry case includes the signature Trazor handle with an integrated dual-purpose shaving and aftershave gel, two gel cartridges, and a set of two Trazor blades.
Trazor Gel is the result of extensive research in the shaving and grooming space for both men and women. The designers conducted ethnographic studies to understand the needs of users, including the desire for freedom to try different brands and the need for a compact shaving solution while traveling. The prototypes were tested with early adopters to optimize the form factor, size, gel usage, and packaging.
Overcoming various creative, technical, and research challenges, the designers successfully created intellectual property in a crowded market dominated by a few key players. The compact form factor with multi-functionality required numerous iterations to achieve the desired result. Collaboration across continents and pushing the boundaries of what seemed impossible were also significant challenges.
The Trazor Gel project began in January 2017, and the first sets of show-quality prototypes were ready in January 2018. The product is scheduled to be launched on Kickstarter for a crowdfunding campaign in the last week of September 2018, with formal production commencing in December 2018.
Trazor Gel has already garnered recognition and accolades, including the Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Trazor Gel's integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contribution to a better world make it a deserving recipient of this honor.
With its revolutionary design, Trazor Gel offers users the freedom to choose their own blades, making it a game-changer in the shaving industry. Its multi-functionality, ergonomic design, and compactness make it a must-have for anyone seeking a superior shaving experience.
